ABOUT US

Tamil Association of Colorado (TAC) is a non-profit, cultural organization serving the Colorado area since 2004. Our primary mission is to preserve and promote Tamil culture through a variety of social, cultural,  and community activities. 

We are dedicated to fostering a deep appreciation for Tamil heritage among current and future generations by organizing cultural events, community services and traditional celebrations. Additionally, we provide a platform for social interaction, networking, and mutual support among Tamil-speaking individuals and families. 

Through our efforts, we aim to create a strong, cohesive community that values and upholds the rich traditions and values of Tamil culture while contributing positively to the diverse cultural landscape of Colorado.

May 9, 2004, marked a significant milestone for our Tamil community in Colorado. On this day, around 50 families came together at Robert Clement Park in Littleton, CO for what would become a memorable Tamil Picnic. During this gathering, there was a collective realization of the need for a formal association to unite and serve the Tamil-speaking population in the area. Consequently, office bearers were nominated, and the Tamil Association was officially established.

Since its inception, the Tamil Colorado Association has grown exponentially and now serves over 500 families across Colorado. The association is dedicated to preserving and promoting Tamil culture, language, and traditions. 

It achieves this by organizing a wide array of cultural events throughout the year, including traditional festivals, music and dance performances, supporting the schools that teach language classes, and community gatherings. These events not only celebrate our rich heritage but also provide opportunities for social interaction, networking, and mutual support among members.

The Tamil Colorado Association remains committed to fostering a strong, vibrant, and cohesive community, ensuring that the Tamil culture thrives and is passed down to future generations while contributing positively to the diverse cultural fabric of Colorado.

Our mission is to foster unity and cultivate a vibrant community among Tamil-speaking individuals in Colorado.

OBJECTIVES

  • Establish a platform dedicated to preserving and sharing Tamil culture and heritage.
  • Educate the younger generation about Tamil culture and heritage.
  • Interact with other communities with a view to promote unity.

 கொலராடோ தமிழ்ச் சங்கம் (Tamil Association of Colorado – TAC) என்பது 2004ஆம் ஆண்டு முதல் கொலராடோ பகுதியில் செயற்படும் ஒரு இலாப நோக்கமற்ற (non-profit), பண்பாட்டு அமைப்பாகும். தமிழ்மொழியும் கலாசாரமும் சிறப்பாகப் பாதுகாக்கப்பட்டு, வளர்ச்சியடைய வேண்டும் என்ற குறிக்கோளோடு, சமூக, பண்பாட்டு மற்றும் சமூக நல நிகழ்வுகள் மூலமாக பணியாற்றி வருகிறது.

இந்நாளைய மற்றும் வருங்கால தலைமுறைகளில் தமிழ்ப் பாரம்பரியத்துக்கான நெகிழ்வையும் விழிப்புணர்வையும் உருவாக்குவது TAC-ன் முதன்மையான நோக்கமாகும். இதற்காக, பாரம்பரிய விழாக்கள், சமூக சேவைகள், கலாச்சார நிகழ்வுகள் போன்ற பலவற்றை நடத்தி வருகிறது. தமிழர்களிடையே சமூக உறவுகளை வலுப்படுத்தவும், நண்பித்தன்மையை வளர்த்தெடுக்கவும், ஒருவருக்கொருவர் ஆதரவளிக்கும் சூழல் உருவாகவும் TAC ஒரு தளமாக திகழ்கிறது.

தமிழ் கலாசாரத்தின் சிறப்புகளைக் காத்து வளர்த்து, கொலராடோவில் பல்வகை கலாசாரங்களை இணைக்கும் பணியில் நமது சங்கம் முக்கிய பங்காற்றி வருகிறது.

நமது தொடக்கக்கதை

2004ஆம் ஆண்டு மே 9ம் தேதி கொலராடோ தமிழ்ச் சமூகத்திற்கு ஒரு முக்கியமான திருப்புமுனை. அன்று, லிட்டில்டன் நகரிலுள்ள ராபர்ட் கிளிமெண்ட் பூங்காவில் சுமார் 50 குடும்பங்கள் ஒன்று கூடி ஒரு அழகான தமிழ் பிக்னிக் நிகழ்வில் கலந்துகொண்டனர். அந்நிகழ்வின் போது, தமிழர் சமூகத்தைக் கட்டமைக்க மற்றும் ஒருங்கிணைக்க ஒரு நிர்வாக அமைப்பின் தேவை பற்றிய அறிதல் உருவாயிற்று. அதற்குத் தொடர்ச்சியாக, நிர்வாகிகள் தேர்வு செய்யப்பட்டு, கொலராடோ தமிழ்ச் சங்கம் உருவாக்கப்பட்டது.

அப்போது தொடங்கிய சங்கம் இன்று 500-க்கும் மேற்பட்ட குடும்பங்களுக்கு சேவையாற்றும் ஒரு வலிமையான அமைப்பாக வளர்ந்துள்ளது. தமிழ் மொழி, கலாசாரம், பாரம்பரியம் ஆகியவற்றை வளர்க்கும் நோக்குடன் ஆண்டு முழுவதும் பல நிகழ்வுகளை நடத்தி வருகிறது.

இதில், பாரம்பரிய விழாக்கள், இசை மற்றும் நடன நிகழ்ச்சிகள், தமிழ்மொழி கற்றல் பள்ளிகளுக்கு ஆதரவு, மற்றும் சமூக சந்திப்புகள் இடம்பெறுகின்றன. இந்நிகழ்வுகள், தமிழ் பாரம்பரியத்தை கொண்டாடுவதோடு மட்டுமல்லாமல், சமூக உறவுகள், நட்புறவு மற்றும் ஆதரவு அமைப்புகளையும் உருவாக்குகின்றன.

கொலராடோ தமிழ்ச் சங்கம் இன்று ஒரு வலிமையான, உற்சாகமிக்க, இணைந்த சமூகத்தை உருவாக்கும் பணியில் தொடர்ந்து பங்களித்து, தமிழ்ப் பண்பாட்டை வருங்கால தலைமுறைகளுக்குப் பரப்பி, கொலராடோவின் கலாசார பன்முகத்தன்மையை மேலும் செழிக்கச் செய்கிறது.

நோக்கம் (MISSION)

கொலராடோவில் வாழும் தமிழர்களிடையே ஒருமைப்பாடு மற்றும் ஒளிவெளியான சமூகத்தை உருவாக்குவது எங்கள் முக்கிய நோக்கமாகும்.

இலக்குகள் (OBJECTIVES)

  • தமிழரின் பண்பாட்டையும் பாரம்பரியத்தையும் பாதுகாக்கும் மற்றும் பகிரும் ஒரு தளத்தை உருவாக்குதல்.

  • இளம் தலைமுறையினருக்கு தமிழ்ப் பண்பாடு மற்றும் பாரம்பரியத்தைக் கற்றுத் தருதல்.

  • பிற சமூகங்களுடன் இணைந்து ஒருமைப்பாட்டை வளர்க்கும் நோக்கத்தில் தொடர்பு கொள்ளுதல்.

  • பல்வேறு கலாசார நிகழ்வுகள் மற்றும் சமூக நிகழ்ச்சிகள் மூலம் தமிழ் பண்பாட்டையும் நட்புறவையும் வளர்த்தெடுத்தல்.
